This project focuses on repairing and replacing damaged or missing drain slabs in tunnels maintained by the SSE/P.Way/KAWR section. These slabs are essential for maintaining proper drainage inside tunnels and preventing structural issues caused by water ingress. The work ensures improved drainage and enhanced railway safety.

Scope of Work

  • Inspection and documentation of defective or missing slabs inside tunnels.
  • Breaking and clearing damaged concrete structures.
  • Casting of new RCC drain slabs to required standards.
  • Transportation and safe installation of the slabs in tunnel drains.
  • Ensuring proper fitting, alignment, and sealing of installed slabs.

We are proud to showcase our recently completed projects within the Karwar Division, Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd. The work was executed under the supervision of the Office of Senior Regional Engineer, 2nd Floor Railway Station Building, Shirward, Karwar, Karnataka, India (PIN: 581306).

Project Details: Shotcreting and Weep Hole Installation

This project involved essential maintenance and stabilization works in the Canacona & Loliem sections under the SSE/W/MAO jurisdiction in Goa.

Shotcreting Gabion Face of Platform

  • Application: Shotcreting was performed on the gabion face of the platform and in cutting/tunnels for stabilization and surface protection.
  • Material: Grade cement concrete was used, incorporating synthetic polyester fibre for enhanced strength and durability.
  • Thickness: Applied to a uniform thickness in a single layer.
  • Process: Included thorough cleaning of the rock surface with water under pressure prior to application, utilizing specialized shotcreting machine, compressor, concrete mixer, scaffolding, and covering all materials, equipment, labour, and logistics.

Drilling of Weep Holes

  • Purpose: Installation of weep holes to relieve hydrostatic pressure behind the shotcrete or rock face, ensuring long-term stability.
  • Specifications: Diameter up to a maximum (site-dependent), Depth as required.
  • Location: Installed at indicated locations in the cutting/shotcreting area.
  • Process: Included all necessary drilling machines, materials, scaffolding, and labour, executed as directed by the Engineer-in-charge.

We are pleased to present a comprehensive overview of the civil engineering works recently completed for the Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd., Karwar Division. The projects were executed under the supervision of the Senior Regional Engineer's Office in Karwar, Karnataka (PIN: 581306).

Schedule 01 - Schedule A: Goa Section Works

Essential stabilization and drainage works in the Canacona & Loliem sections under the SSE/W/MAO jurisdiction in Goa.

Stabilization & Drainage

  • Shotcreting (Reinforced): 50 mm thick layer of M25 grade cement concrete with synthetic polyester fibre on the Gabion face of platform and in cuttings/tunnels.
  • Weep Hole Drilling: Up to 38 mm diameter, 0.30 m deep holes drilled in shotcreting/rock to relieve hydrostatic pressure.

Schedule 02 - Schedule B: Karnataka Section Works

Platform stabilization, surface restoration, and concrete element replacement between the Asnoti and Kumta stations under the SSE/W/KW section in Karnataka State.

Platform & Surface Restoration

  • Platform Restoration: Shotcreting of the Gabion face of the platform and replacing damaged Pre-Cast coping slabs and paving slabs.
  • Pre-Cast Element Fixing: Fixing preccast cement concrete elements (e.g., copings) made of 1:1.5:3 concrete set using 1:3 cement mortar.
  • Reinforcement & Dismantling: Installation of Mild and Medium Tensile steel bars for RCC work and dismantling precast slabs (40–75 mm thick).
